About
Helping Healthcare Practitioners realize their fullest potential
My passion for The Conscious Clinician Movement
Working as a Naturopathic Physician used to wear me down and leave me feeling burnt out. I would constantly be thinking about my patients during my time off and felt like I didn't have enough time for family or fun. By doing my own personal work, I found more peace within myself which resulted in me feeling more present with my patients. I found I could relate better to them with empathy and compassion, enhancing the therapeutic relationship through genuine authentic connection. I love being in practice and find joy in living my dream of how I envisioned medicine could be and want to help other healthcare practitioners connect to their passion and realize their full potential.
Having worked with numerous health care practitioners as patients and supervising students of Naturopathic Medicine in clinical practice for many years, I have seen how much personal work and support is needed in the caring professions.
I believe that doing our own personal work and making self care a priority as healthcare professionals makes us better equipped to help our patients. What I hear repeatedly from patients is that many healthcare providers are not aware of the emotional impact they are having on their patients. Through my counselling training, I learned the importance of emotional responsibility within the therapeutic relationship which is something that is often not covered in the training of other health care practitioners. I feel strongly that if more clinicians had this same training and consideration around emotional responsibility and accountability, we could increase the quality of care we offer our patients and allow them to feel safe, truly heard, supported, and cared for.
My hope for the courses I offer is that we start to explore some of our bias and our unconscious impact on our patients. Having integrated this work into my practice, I have noticed a deeper connection with my patients. They feel more hopeful and trusting which has resulted in better follow through on treatment plans.
